Lecture description: Make your home landscape a haven for hummingbirds by incorporating plants that feed them throughout the year. Nectar plants are important, but so too are plants that support the insects and spiders that make up the bulk of hummingbird diets. Your landscape will be beautiful and feed birds.
Bio:Mark W. LaSalle, Ph.D.
Dr. LaSalle is a naturalist and wetland ecologist, providing expertise on wetlands, water quality and environmental impacts of humans. He has also developed and conducted a number of environmental education programs and workshops for youth, teachers, realtors, and the general public on a variety of subjects including wetlands, natural history, and environmental landscaping. Mark is a graduate of the University of Southwestern Louisiana (B.S. and M.S. degrees) and Mississippi State University (Ph.D.). Mark is the recipient of the Chevron Conservation Award, the Mississippi Wildlife Federation Conservation Educator Award, the Gulf Guardian Award, the Boy Scouts of America Silver Beaver Award, and the Pascagoula River Basin Ambassador Award. Mark authors the nature-based series called “Qu’est Que C’est (Cajun for What is That) for OurMSHome (https://ourmshome.com/environment/ ) and a Cajun Daily Dose of Nature on Instagram and Facebook.
